PRESS RELEASE – March 24, 2020 Arrest of Suspects for Violation of PD 1602 (illegal Cockfighting)

A duty desk officer of Alegria Municipal Police Station received a phone call from concerned citizen on March 23, 2020 around 12:05PM, reporting that there was an illegal cockfight activity happened at the vicinity of Barangay Camp Edward, Alegria, Surigao Del Norte.

Immediately, personnel of Alegria Municipal Police Station conducted anti-Illegal Gambling operation that resulted in the arrest of two suspects identified as: LUCIO MORALLA LABAO, 62 years old, male, married, farmer and a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Camp Edward, Alegria, SDN; and RUPERTO MACALES ANUNCIADO, 69 years old, male, married, farmer, and a resident of Barangay Crossing, Kitcharao, Agusan Del Norte.

The following items were confiscated from the suspects possession:

  1. 4 live gamecocks;
  2. 12 gaffs; and
  3. Ph 500.00 bill in different denominations.

Arrested suspects were informed of their constitutional rights under Miranda Doctrine and Anti-torture Act and now under the custody of Alegria Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Apprehension of Suspects for Violation of Art. 151 of RPC and R.A. No. 11332

A cellphone call was received by Sison Municipal Police Station on March 23, 2020 at about 10:00PM, from Brgy. Tanod of Mabuhay, Sison, Surigao del Norte informing that two individuals were having a drinking spree despite of several warnings. Immediately, personnel of Sison Municipal Police Station proceeded to the aforesaid place and apprehended two (2) male persons who were caught in the act drinking liquor and continuously disobeyed the responding personnel which are violation for Art. 151 of RPC “Resistance and Disobedience to A Person in Authority or the Agents of Such Person” and R.A. No. 11332 “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Heath Events of Public Health Concern Act”.

The arrested persons were duly informed of their constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine and the Anti-Torture Law.

Suspects were later identified as Alvin Apole Cuares, male, 52 years old, married, tricycle driver a resident of P-2, Brgy. Mabuhay, Sison, Surigao del Norte and Ramon Cabertes Fuentes, 55 years old, married, backhoe operator and a native of P-3, Brgy. Comaw-as, Bislig, City.

An inquest case is now being prepared for filing in court against the arrested suspects
