Press Release – June 9, 2020 Campaign Against Illegal Logging
A concerned citizen informed General Luna Municipal Police Station on June 8, 2020 around10:00AM, that illegally cut lumbers were onboard a color blue Moto Push Tri-wheel trike, heading towards General Luna town proper. Immediately upon receipt of the report, personnel of General Luna MPS led by PCPT WISE VICENTE B. PANUEOLOS, COP, initiated checkpoint in Barangay Consuelo, General Luna, Surigao del Norte for possible apprehension of the suspect.
Personnel of General Luna MPS manning the checkpoint were able to hold the Tri-wheel trike described as Moto posh with-out plate number loaded with sawn lumbers in different sizes known as Falcata specie with estimated volume of more or less Two Hundred Seven Two (272) board feet and with an estimated value of Three Thousand Two Hundred Sixty Four pesos (Php. 3,264.00) in National road of Barangay Consuelo, General Luna, Surigao del Norte. Police Officers asked the documents on the legality of the forest products but suspect failed to show the legal documents.. Suspect identified as Rito Golandrina Cuňado, 38 years old, male, Filipino, married, driver and a resident of Barangay Maasin, Pilar, Surigao del Norte. Suspect was duly informed of his Constitutional Rights under Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Law in language known and understood by him and brought to General Luna Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
Confiscated lumber including the vehicle are now in the custody of General Luna MPS are subject to be turned over to DENR Dapa, Field Office for proper disposition.
Press Release – June 9, 2020 Campaign Against Illegal Gambling (Illegal Cockfighting)
Personnel of Claver MPS together with personnel from 1302nd Mobile Force, RMFB13 and 2nd SDN PMFC conducted joint operation on June 8, 2020 around 3:00PM at Purok 8, Brgy. Taganito, Claver, Surigao del Norte, against illegal gambling relative to the report of an alleged cockfighting held at the aforementioned place that resulted in the arrest of the suspects identified as JUANITO LEGASPI ARGENTE, 47 years old, married, jobless; and JONEPER ABARCA ROSILLO, 43 years old, married, fish vendor, both residents of Purok 8, Brgy. Taganito, Claver, Surigao del Norte who were caught in the act actually engaged in “ Tari-tari”. Recovered from the possession and control of the suspects were two live fighting cocks, 1 dead cock, assorted tying paraphernalia, 8 pcs gaff blades, 3 pcs gaff scabbards and cash amounting to Php 2,000.00.
Suspects were duly apprised of their constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Law. Arrested suspects and pieces of evidence are now in the custody of Claver MPS for proper disposition and appropriate filing of case.
