Press Release – July 30, 2020 Accomplishment Against Illegal Fishing
On July 29, 2020 around 09:00PM, personnel of Del Carmen MPS together with personnel of Bantay Dagat of Del Carmen led by Gina M Barquilla, MENRO conducted joint seaborne patrol operation at Municipal Sea Waters of Del Carmen, SDN. At about 02:00AM of July 30, 2020, lawmen caught on the act a group of persons conducting fishing with the use of compressor locally known as “BOSO” at the seawaters of Brgy, Halian, Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte and were arrested and later identified namely; 1.Arnel Abilar Daboca,42 yrs old, male, married, fisherman, 2. Daniel Digman Edillo, 41 years old, male, married, fisherman, 3. Bootch Digman Edillo, 29 years old, male, married fisherman 4. Welvin Edillo Atillo, 30 years old, male, married, 5. Albin Sajulga Mira, 31 years old, male, married, fisherman and all residents of P-2, Brgy. Patińo, Taganaan, Surigao del Norte.
Confiscated items from the possession of the suspects were:
- One (1) motor pump boat with two (2) engines (13hp and 16hp)
- Three (3) hose more or less 50 meters each
- One (1) air compressor;
- three (3) Fishing arrow /spare gun;
- Assorted fish more or less 10 kls with estimated market value of Php 1,200 at 120 per kilo.
The apprehended persons were informed of their constitutional rights in dialect known to them including Anti Torture Act and brought to Del Carmen MPS including the confiscated items for proper disposition and documentation for Violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 036 Series of 2019 “AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION AND USE OF AIR COMPRESSOR LOCALLY KNOWN AS “BOSO” AND OTHER DESTRUCTIVE GEAR LIKE “DUMBOL” WITHIN THE TERRITORIAL WATERS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF DEL CARMEN, SURIGAO DEL NORTE.
Press Release – July 30, 2020 Attempted Homicide and Violation of RA 10591 Illegal Possession of Firearm
A cellular phone call from concerned citizen received by Surigao City Police Station informing on July 29, 2020 at about 10:00 PM, that an alleged Discharge of Firearms Incident had transpired in Purok-1, Brgy. Togbongon, Surigao City. Acting on said report, elements of said station led by PLT BASSEL D MONTEROSO proceeded to the reported place to confirm and validate the report. Upon arrival, the report was indeed true wherein the complainant identified as ROEL ALBARADO RUAZA, 35 years old, male, self-employed, and resident of Purok-1, Brgy. Togbongon, Surigao City and the suspect identified as Vincent Posadas Balantucas, Aka "Intig" 26 years old, male, married, Former Rebel (FR), also a resident of the same place who was rushed to Caraga Regional Hospital.
Investigation revealed that at about 9:40 PM, of the same date, while the aforesaid complainant with his neighbors and parents talking outside of his house celebrating the 18th birthday of his daughter, the suspect arrived onboard his MC Honda Beat bearing Plate No.7169 IA, parked in front of them and suddenly drew a short firearm from his waistline and make load. Fortunately, said complainant able to grab the firearm and scuffled with the suspect, however, said suspect able to pull the trigger hitting on his own leg. On that instance, complainant successfully took hold the said firearm from the suspect’s possession and control.
Recovered from the crime scene one fired Cartridge Case FCC, one unit Cal. 45 Caspian with defaced serial number, one fired bullet, and one magazine loaded with two live ammunitions which was turned-over by the said complainant. Aforesaid suspect was arrested by the said responding police officers with the Barangay Officials and Tanods of said barangay and was duly informed of his constitutional rights and the nature and cause of his arrest to the language known and understood by him.
Arrested suspect and recovered evidences were brought to Surigao City Police Station subject for Paraffin and Ballistic Examination.
