Campaign Against Illegal Logging
On December 17, 2020 around 10:30 AM, personnel of Placer Municipal Police Station received a cellular phone call from a concerned citizen informing that there is an alleged abandoned illegal lumber in Purok 4, Brgy. Macalaya, Placer, Surigao del Norte.
Immediately personnel of Placer MPS conducted an anti-illegal logging operation and discovered an abandoned sawn lumber of “Manguim Tree” in a different dimensions with an estimated volume of 75 board feet with an estimated market value of Three Thousand Pesos (Php 3,000.00).
Investigation disclosed that the owner of aforesaid lumber was identified as Mark Lister Patagan Juanillo a.k.a. “Badoy” male, Filipino, 45 years old, jobless, and a resident of Sitio Varona, Brgy. Magsaysay, Placer, Surigao del Norte.
The confiscated items are now in the custody of Placer MPS for proper disposition.
Campaign Against Illegal Fishing
On December 17, 2020 around 9:50PM, personnel of Alegria MPS led by PMAJ NIRA B PEROCHO, OIC, conducted an Anti-Illegal Fishing Operation at the Municipal Water of Barangay San Juan, Alegria, Surigao del Norte that resulted in the arrest of Two (2) fishermen identified as Jonny Sebial Mariano, 33 years old, male, married, and Edwin Galicia Basil, 28 years old, male, single, and both residents of Purok-6 Barangay Pongtud, Alegria, Surigao del Norte.
The said suspects were caught in the act conducting illegal fishing activity using “Bontoy”.
Confiscated from the possession of the suspects were:
- 1 Wooden canoe (Baroto);
- 1 Fishing net;
- 1 Fishing gear known as “Bontoy” and
- More or less 2 kilos of fish commonly known as “tilapia” with the estimated Market value of Php 200.00
The suspects and confiscated items are now under the custody of Alegria MPS for documentation and proper disposition.
Traffic Accident (Self Accident)
On December 17, 2020 around 7:30AM, personnel of Taganaan MPS received a mobile phone call from a concerned citizen informing that a traffic accident transpired at the National Highway of Purok 2, Brgy. Upper Libas, Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte involving a silver Toyota High Ace Van. Personnel of Taganaan MPS immediately responded to the place of the accident.
Initial investigation revealed that around 7:00 AM of the same date, the said silver Toyota High Ace Van with plate number UQ-O269, OR No. 1990385106, CR No. 38228499, registered on October 23, 2020, under the name of Juvy Baring Adoptante and driven by Ricky Atacador Baring, male, 42 years old, with live-in partner, resident of Abby Road, Northwind Subdivision, Novaliches, Quezon City was traveling from Surigao City towards Davao City direction. Upon reaching the curved portion of the place of the accident, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to the slippery road under heavy rainfall weather conditions and fell into the slope area of the right portion of the highway.
The driver and four passengers of the said van sustained slight injuries in the different parts of their bodies and were brought to Caraga Regional Hospital, Surigao City while the involved vehicle incurred an undetermined amount of damages.
