Campaign Against Illegal Gambling

On December 27, 2020 at about 3:15PM, a cellular phone call was received by personnel of Tubod Municipal Police Station from a concerned citizen informing that an illegal gambling activity locally known as “TARI-TARI” transpired in Brgy. Cawilan, Tubod, Surigao del Norte.

Immediately personnel of Tubod Municipal Police Station led by PCPT ROBIN JONE COMBO, OIC proceeded to the aforesaid place but upon reaching the area all gamblers scampered in an unknown direction. However, three suspects were positively identified namely;

1)  Roger Cadenas Gabeon, 47 years old, male, married, farmer (at large);

2)  Rolly Baraca Elsisura, 43 years old, male, married, farmer (at large);

(Both residents of Purok Malipayon, Tubod, Surigao del Norte); and

3)  Arlon Caballes Juan, 45 years old, male, married, farmer, a resident of Purok Bulawanon, Brgy. Cawilan, Tubod, Surigao del Norte (at large).

The recovered one fighting cock is now under the custody of Tubod Municipal Police Station. The case is being prepared for filing charges in court.

On December 27, 2020 around 1:20PM, a cellular phone call from a concerned citizen of Brgy. Osmeña, Dapa, Surigao del Norte was received by Dapa Municipal Police Station informing that an illegal cockfighting activity transpired in the vicinity of Purok 3, Brgy. Osmeña, Surigao Del Norte.

Immediately, personnel of Dapa Municipal Police Station proceeded to the aforesaid place that resulted in the apprehension of  Pedro Ruaya Convicto, a.k.a Indong, 62 years old, male, Filipino, married, self-employed and Ganie Buenaflor Domagtoy Jr., a.k.a Toto, 20 years old, male, Filipino, single, jobless, residents of Brgy. Osmeña, Dapa, Surigao Del Norte while other bettors were able to evade the arrest. Suspects were caught in the act engaged in illegal gambling activity locally known as “TARI-TARI”.

Some of the suspects that able to evade the arrest were natives of Brgy. Osmeña and were positively identified by the police officers during the chase as follows: Junry Boncaros, Junel Micayas a.k.a Rambo, Aljun Sinday, Ilmar Porpayas a.k.a Imal, Jermac Micayas, Jose Gonzaga, Donald Mejong Sindo Jr., alias Bulag Gotinga and alias Jojoi, all of legal ages and residents of the said place.

The arrested individuals were informed of their Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Doctrine and the Anti-Torture Law upon their arrest.

Confiscated from the possession of Pedro Ruaya Convicto:

  1. Dead fighting cock with gaff; and
  2. Bet money amounting to Php600.00 in different denominations.

Confiscated from the possession of Ganie Buenaflor Domagtoy Jr.:

  1. Wounded red fighting cock; and
  2. Other wounded red fighting cock on the ground.

Suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence are now under the custody of Dapa Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Campaign Against Illegal Gambling

On December 27, 2020 around 03:40PM, a cellular phone call from a concerned citizen was received by San Francisco Municipal Police Station informing that an illegal gambling activity locally known as “TARI-TARI” transpired in Brgy. Macopa, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte.

Immediately, personnel of San Francisco Municipal Police Station led by PCPT ARNOLD Y. NACHOR, OIC proceeded to the aforesaid place but upon reaching the area all gamblers scampered in an unknown direction. However, operating personnel were still able to apprehend the suspects identified as follows:

  • Moises Borimbao Candol Jr., 50 years old, male, married, unemployed, and a resident of Purok-3, Brgy. Macopa, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte; and
  • Nemesio Torsendi Lingo, 30 years old, male, married, unemployed, and a resident of Purok-1, Brgy. Magtangale, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte.

The arrested individuals were informed of their Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Doctrine and the Anti-Torture Law upon their arrest.

Confiscated during the operation were:

  1. One live fighting cock;
  2. One dead fighting cock;
  3. Bet money amounting to Four Hundred Fifty Pesos (Php 450.00) in different denomination;
  4. One Skygo black motorcycle;
  5. One Euro gray motorcycle;
  6. One Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle with plate number MZ-4701;
  7. One Rusi motorcycle with plate number NX-8440;
  8. One Yamaha black motorcycle;
  9. One SYM black motorcycle with plate number MS-9500;
  10. One Skygo black motorcycle with plate number KX-1840;
  11. One Rusi black motorcycle with plate number MS-31605; and
  12. One Kawasaki tricycle with body number SC-0905.

Suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence are now under the custody of San Francisco Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Campaign Against Illegal Fishing

On December 27, 2020 around 10:45PM personnel of Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station together with the Bantay Dagat of Brgy. T. Arlan led by Emerald E. Dolar, conducted joint seaborne patrolling within the seawaters of the aforesaid barangay and spotted an individual who was caught in the act engaged in illegal fishing activity with the use of Fine Mesh Net (triple-net). Suspect was later identified as Randy Montejo Pangan, 31 years old, male, with common-law-wife, fisherman and a resident of Purok 1, Brgy. T. Arlan, Sta. Monica, Surigao del Norte.

Confiscated from the possession of the suspect were:

  1. MOL 100 meters fine mesh net;
  2. Estimated 3 kilograms of assorted caught fish with a market value of Php 600.00; and
  3. 1 Boat (Baroto).

The arrested individual was informed of his Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Doctrine and the Anti-Torture Law upon his arrest.

The suspect and confiscated pieces of evidence are now in the custody of Sta Monica Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Campaign Against Illegal Gambling

On December 27, 2020 around 5:10PM, in Purok 6, Sitio Punta Naga, Brgy. Cagdianao, Claver, SDN personnel of Claver MPS led by PCPT AUDREY ROSE R RIVERO thru the conduct of diligent effort to stop illegal gambling in the AOR was able to apprehend Romeo Cagasan Tesiorna, 70 years old, widower, a retired THPAL Crane Operator, a resident of Purok 7, Taganito, Claver, SDN and Luis Bayeta Grande, 59 years old, married, jobless, a resident of Purok 2, Cagdianao, Claver, SDN. Suspects were caught in the act engaged in illegal cockfighting locally known as “TARI-TARI”.

 Confiscated from the possession of the suspects were:

 One live fighting cock (tubaon);

  1. Two gaff blades;
  2. Bet money amounting to One Thousand Pesos (Php 1,000.00).

The illegal cockfight (tari-tari) was done in an open but remote area of the aforementioned place.

 The arrested individuals were informed of their Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Doctrine and the Anti-Torture Law upon their arrest.

 Suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence are now in the custody of Claver Municipal Police Station for proper disposition

Campaign against Wanted Person

On December 27, 2020 around 2:00PM, elements of Bacuag MPS led by PCPT JUNE O HONTANOSAS, Chief of Police in coordination with CIDG SDNPFU and members of Alegria MPS conducted Manhunt Operation in Barangay Poblacion, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte and arrested one DOMINGO BERBA TORION, 24 years old, single, farmer, a former resident of Purok 7, Barangay Alipao, Alegria, Surigao del Norte by virtue of Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon JACQUELINE G ONGPAUCO-CORTEL, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 29, Surigao City dated January 15, 2020.

Accused is a Top 5 MWP of Alegria Municipal Police Station and is wanted for Frustrated Murder under Criminal Case No. 14402 with a recommended bail bond of Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php200, 000). He was informed of his Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Warning and Anti-Torture Law during the arrest and he is now under the custody of Bacuag Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Mauling Incident

On December 27, 2020 around 9:00PM, cellular phones call from Hon. Melecio L. Tado, Punong Barangay of Brgy. Capayahan, Tubod, Surigao del Norte was received by Tubod Municipal Police Station informing that there was a mauling incident transpired around 8:45 PM of the same date victimizing one Rene Peramide Eguna, 33 years old, male, married, LGU employee, a resident of Sitio Mahucdam, Brgy. Capayahan, Tubod, Surigao del Norte perpetrated by Reynaldo Reyes Sajol, 23 years old, single, laborer, and a resident of Purok 1, Brgy. Capayahan, Tubod, Surigao del Norte, and two other unidentified male persons.

Initial investigation disclosed that victim and suspect were both under the influence of intoxicating liquor, had an argument which resulted in the mauling of the suspect together with two other unidentified male persons to the victim. The suspect took one stone and whipped the victim’s head. Immediately, the victim was brought to the Municipal Health Center of Tubod for medical treatment while the suspect was arrested by the Punong Barangay and was turned-over to Tubod Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

The suspect is now under the custody of Tubod Municipal Police Station while a case is being prepared for filing of appropriate charges to the court.

Report on Drowning Incident

On December 27, 2020 around 3:45 PM, a mobile phone call from a concerned citizen was received by Placer Municipal Police Station informing that there was an alleged drowning incident in the seawaters of Brgy. Amoslog, Placer, Surigao del Norte. Acted on the said report, a team led by PMSg Wilson P. Pelegrino immediately proceeded to the place to verify the said report. Upon arrival thereat, they identified the victim as JISNAR NERIO NALAM, 27 years old, male, single, jobless, and a resident of Purok Calipayan, Barangay Magsaysay, Mainit, Surigao del Norte.

Initial investigation conducted revealed that the victim along with his friend was swimming. The victim was left alone in the seawater near the seashore. Moments later, some beachgoers informed them that their friend was already floating in the seawaters.  Immediately, they went to the victim and remove the victim’s body out from the seawaters to revive him but the victim was unresponsive. The victim was rushed to Caraga Regional Hospital for immediate medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by DR BERNIE BUDIONGAN, the attending physician. The body of the victim was still at the morgue of Caraga Regional Hospital.

Further investigation conducted revealed that the victim and companion were having a drinking spree before the incident happened.

Apprehension of Suspect for Violation of Art. 280 (Qualified Trespass to Dwelling) and Violation of Art. 308 (Theft) Section Two of Revised Penal Code

On December 28, 2020, around 1:55 AM, a cellular phone call received by duty desk officer from PSSg Clark Wilbert Dacera, also a member of PNP assigned to Socorro Municipal Police Station informing that there were an alleged theft and trespassing of a person that he caught in the act inside his house at Brgy. Navarro, Socorro, Surigao del Norte and he already apprehended the suspect.

Immediately, personnel of Socorro Municipal Police Station led by PSSg Junrie Engroba responded to the said report to verify the same, upon arrival at the said place, the responding police officer actually saw the suspect person already neutralized by the said complainant and responding police officer effect the arrest of a person identified as Kent Vie Gelsano Canta, 20 years old, male, single, student, a resident of P-4 Caitan, Barangay Navarro, Socorro, Surigao del Norte.

Investigation revealed that the said suspect caught in the act by the aforesaid complainant hiding inside the room of 2nd-floor portion of the house which resulted in the apprehension of the said suspect and it was also revealed by the complainant that on previous days their cash amounting to P15, 000.00 more or less inside the cabinet over his folded clothes was lost.

The arrested suspect has informed his constitutional rights under Miranda Doctrine in the language known and understood by him including Anti-Torture Law. The aforementioned suspect was brought to Socorro Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition. Appropriate charges have been prepared for filing of Violation of Article 280 (Qualified trespass to a dwelling) and Article 308 (Theft) Section two of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) are now being prepared for filing before the office of Provincial Prosecutor Office.
