Press Release – July 13, 2020 Campaign Against Illegal Fishing

Personnel of Claver MPS and 1303rd Monitoring Post Hayanggabon of PNP Maritime Group conducted a joint operation on July 12, 2020 around 5:00AM, regarding the reported illegal fishing activity in the municipal waters of Brgy. Cagdianao, Claver, Surigao del Norte with the used of underwater breathing apparatus violating the Municipal Ordinance No. 2005-03- an Ordinance Prohibiting the use of Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, (SCUBA)/Compressor Device otherwise known as “Boso”

Said operation resulted in the apprehension of Jevan Genson Galo, 29 years old, married and a resident of Brgy. Estrella, Socorro, Surigao del Norte and Jayford Medrano Consigna, 27 years old, married and a resident of Brgy. Navarro, Socorro, Surigao del Norte. During the arrest some suspects who were under water hunting fish managed to evade. The arrested suspect only identified their companion nick names as certain @ Bobot, @ Dayang and @ Jecjec.

The arrested suspects were informed of their constitutional rights under the Miranda Warning and Anti-Torture Act.

Confiscated from the possession of the suspects were:

  1. one unit white pump boat marked LJKC with 16 HP Honda engine;
  2. compressor device such as oxygen tank attached the 13HP Honda engine; and
  3. one hundred (100) meters compressor hose.

Suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence are now under the custody of Claver MPS for proper disposition.

Press Release – July 13, 2020 Arrest of Wanted Person

On July 11, 2020 at about 1:20PM in Barangay Navarro, Socorro, Surigao del Norte, personnel of Socorro MPS led by PCMS Wilson E. Antipasado, Finance PNCO under the supervision of PCPT ALEX A CELIZ conducted manhunt operation leading to the successful apprehension of a certain Ariel L. Canta, 41 years old, male, married, farmer and a resident of Sitio Atoyay, Barangay N. Sering, Socorro Surigao del Norte by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by HON. CESAR P. BORDALBA, Presiding Judge at Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 31, Dapa, Surigao del Norte, dated June 23, 2020 for violation of Section 68 of Presidential Decree No. 705(Measuring of Forest Products and Invoicing and Collection of Charges Thereon Measuring of Forest Products and Invoicing and Collection of Charges Thereon) under criminal case number 19-177 with recommended bail of Twenty Four Thousand Pesos (P24,000.00).

The arrested person was informed of his constitutional rights under Miranda Doctrine and Anti-torture Act and he is now temporarily detained at Socorro MPS Custodial Facility for documentation and proper disposition.

Press Release – July 13, 2020 Apprehension of Suspect for Violation of PD 1602 in relation to RA 11332

On July 12, 2020 around 4:30PM, personnel from Burgos MPS led by PLT EDWIN N FUGOSO, OIC conducted operation on Anti-Illegal Gambling (Cockfighting) at Matin-ao, Burgos, Surigao del Norte that resulted in the arrest of Sosimo Gotinga Saragoza, Filipino, male, 34 years old, single, farmer/gaffer and a resident of Purok 5, San Isidro, Surigao del Norte. Another suspect who managed to escape was identified as Jumar Sunico, male, legal age (at large) and a resident of Brgy. Mabini, Sta. Monica, Surigao del Norte.

Recovered at the place and from possession of the suspect are the following:

  1. Two fighting cocks;
  2. black opened sling bag containing six pieces of fighting cock Gaff;
  3. sharpener; and
  4. Bet money amounted to three hundred fifteen pesos (300.00) in different denomination.

Suspect was then appraised on their constitutional rights under Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Warning, the same was brought to Burgos Municipal Police Station with the confiscated items for documentation and proper disposition.

Press Release – July 13, 2020 Campaign against Illegal Gambling for Violation of PD 449 and R.A.11332

On July 12, 2020 around 3:20 PM, a phone call received by Placer Municipal Police Station from a concerned citizen informing that there was an on-going Illegal  Cock Fighting activity locally known as “Buyang” transpired in Purok 3, Brgy. Amoslog, Placer, Surigao del Norte.

Immediately, personnel of Placer MPS led by PMAJ LUTGARDO A GALIDO, OIC proceeded to the aforesaid place. Upon arrival, people around scampered in different directions but one suspect was accosted by the PNP personnel that resulted in the arrest of suspect identified as Merquiades Nois Patiño, male, Filipino, widow, 70 years old, senior citizen member and a resident of Purok 6, Brgy. Amoslog, Placer, Surigao del Norte. While others.

Recovered at the place and from possession of the suspect are the following:

  1. Two (2) pcs. Gaff blades (Tari);
  2. Two (2) pcs. Tape;
  3. Beat money worth Five Hundred Fifty Pesos (Php 550.00); and
  4. Two Fighting Cocks.

Suspect was then appraised on their constitutional rights under Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Warning, the same was brought to Placer Municipal Police Station with the confiscated items for documentation and proper disposition.

Press Release – July 13, 2020 Report on Apprehension of Suspect for Violation of PD 449 (Cockfighting Law)

On July 12, 2020 around 5:00PM, a phone call received by duty desk officer of Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station from a concerned citizen informing that there was an on-going Illegal Cock Fighting activity transpired in Brgy. Libertad, Sta. Monica, Surigao del Norte.

Immediately, personnel of Sta. Monica MPS led by PLT JUAN T BELARMINO, OIC proceeded to the aforesaid place. Upon reaching thereat, there were cock fighting bettors surrounding the ongoing cockfighting activity which prompted in the apprehension of suspect  identified as Ricky Sanico Rein, 40 years old, male, married, construction worker and a resident of Brgy. San Miguel, San Isidro, Surigao del Norte (Arrested) and others were scampered into different direction later were identified as Jonathan Pitallo a.k.a LoLoy, resident of Brgy. Libertad, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large), a.k.a Kano Madera, resident of Brgy. Libertad, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large), Jose Common, resident of Brgy. Libertad, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large), Tortolyano Canta a.k.a Taburok, resident of Brgy. Mabini, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large), a.k.a Dungay Vertudazo, resident of Brgy. Mabini, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large) a.k.a Loloy Sulapas, resident of Brgy. Mabini, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large), Robert Espinosa a.k.a Sewet, resident of Brgy. Libertad, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large), Elpedio Buntad a.k.a Pado, resident of Brgy. Libertad, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large) a.k.a Tiko Monter, resident of Brgy. Mabini, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large) and Felex Canta, resident of Brgy. Mabini, Sta. Monica, SDN (at-large).

Recovered at the place and from possession of the suspect are the following:

  1. a Bet money worth Six Hundred Twenty Pesos (P620.00) in different denomination;
  2. Three (3) fighting cocks: two(2) alive and one (1) dead; and
  3. Two (2) pcs gaff with cover.

Suspect was then appraised on their constitutional rights under Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Warning, the same was brought to Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station with the confiscated items for documentation and proper disposition.
