Press Release – July 20, 2020 Campaign Against Illegal Gambling

On July 19, 2020 around 11:00AM, personnel of Surigao city PS, brought the apprehended suspect identified as Christopher Patinga Eder, 39 years old, with live-in partner, and resident Purok-7, Sitio Escalon, Brgy. Cagniog, Surigao City for Violation of PD 1602 (Illegal Cockfighting) and R.A. 11332 that transpired at about 11:00AM of same date in Purok-7, Sitio Escalon, Barangay Cagniog, Surigao City.

Investigation conducted disclosed that personnel from TRU of Surigao City PS conducted anti-illegal gambling operation upon received information from concerned citizen that an alleged illegal cockfighting had transpired in the above mentioned place. Thereat, it was found affirmative. However, upon sensing the presence of police officers, they are scampered in different direction leaving assorted sandals thereat. One of the suspects was caught in the act directly participating said activity that resulted in his arrest. Confiscated from the suspect possession and control are the following:

  1. cash money amounting of Php600.00 in different denomination;
  2. two pieces of gaffs with paraphernalia;
  3. two red dead fighting cocks; and
  4. three red live fighting cocks.

Arrested suspect was informed of his Constitutional Rights as construed in the Miranda Doctrine and the nature of his arrest to the language known to him and the Anti-Torture Act and the same was brought to this office for proper disposition.

Press Release – July 20, 2020 Campaign Against Illegal Logging

On July 19, 2020 around 8:20 AM, a cellular phone call received from concern citizen informing that there was an alleged hauling of sawn lumbers at Purok 7, Barangay Jubgan, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte. Immediately personnel of San Francisco MPS led by PCPT ARNOLD Y NACHOR proceeded to aforementioned place to confirm the veracity of the said report. Upon arrival, they saw an abandoned cut/sliced coconut lumbers.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that the cut/sliced coconut lumbers was owned by Walter Tiambong Yubos, 44 years old, male, married, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Jubgan, San Francisco Surigao del Norte. The recovered sawn lumbers has an estimated volume of 1,070 board feet with an estimated market value of Twelve Thousand Eight Hundred Forty Pesos (Php 12, 840.00).

Recovered sawn lumbers were brought to San Francisco MPS for investigation and proper disposition.

Press Release – July 20, 2020 Found Dead Body

On July 19, 2020 around 4:30PM SB Allan A. Turtur reported at Placer MPS that there was a dead body of a male person in the coconut farm owned by Al Sumayangin in Sitio Legaspi, Purok Ilang-ilang, Brgy. Magsaysay, Placer, Surigao del Norte. Acted on the said report personnel of Placer MPS led by PLT JONIEL F RACHO, DCOP proceeded to the place of incident together with the family of the victim. Thereat they discovered that the victim was buried by unidentified person. Victim is identified as Ronald Ocmar Ballera, 38 years old, male, married, farmer and a resident of Purok Ilang-ilang, Brgy. Magsaysay, Placer, Surigao del Norte.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim went to the mountainous area to make a charcoal on last July 6, 2020 but the victim failed to return home for several days. That prompted to the family of the victim went to the place of incident. The victim was buried who sustained lacerated wound at the neck and right leg and the body was cut into two pieces. Recovered on the crime scene is one sharped bolo. The post mortem examined by Rachelle Jean O Sanchez, RN,MD, Municipal Heath Officer, RHU, Placer, Surigao Del Norte.

Personnel of Placer MPS is now conducting thorough investigation and follow-up operation for the identification of the suspect/s.

Press Release – July 20, 2020 Anti-Illegal Gambling Operation

On July 19, 2020 at around 5:20PM, a concerned citizen of Barangay 12, Poblacion, Dapa, Surigao del Norte made phone call to Dapa MPS informing that an illegal cockfighting activities transpired at Lobo road, vicinity also of Barangay 12, Poblacion, which was facilitated by alias Esboy whose real name is Jesse Aleser Espra, legal age, male, Filipino, resident of Barangay 13, Poblacion, Dapa.

Subsequently, personnel of Dapa MPS led by PSSg Ricxes Forcadilla Mantilla, Intel PNCO, proceeded to the location where the said activities were being held. Upon arrival thereat, the yelling people in circle formation with the ongoing match, forthwith ran and evaded. The responding police officers identified themselves and likewise announced their authority and thereby ordered them to stop. However, they did not listen which prompted them to chase.

Subject Mr. Espra was chased by PSSg Mantilla and others but they did not reached him due to the tall and thick grass terrain. Two among the confederates of Mr. Espra in the cockfight  were identified by them as alias Pasak Formilles, legal age, male, Filipino, resident of Barangay 13, Poblacion, Dapa, and alias Jan-jan Blasé, legal age, male, Filipino, resident of Barangay 10, Poblacion, Dapa, Surigao del Norte.

Seized from the cockfighting area were two (2) dead fighting cocks and other one alive but severely wounded fighting cock with gaff. Said seized evidences were then brought to Dapa MPS for further documentations and disposal.

A case for violation of PD no. 449 is being prepared for filing against the at-large suspects above
