Press Release – July 29, 2020 Accomplishment Against Illegal Fishing

On July 27, 2020 around 11:30PM, a joint seaborne patrol operation led by MENRO representative Kirby Jefferson Galanida Sangco, together with personnel of Socorro MPS led by PCPT ALEX A CELIZ, 1303rd Maritime PNP, Philippine Coast Guard and Bantay Dagat of the Municipality of Socorro, Surigao del Norte conducted anti-illegal fishing operation at the municipal seawaters of Socorro, Surigao del Norte. Around 5:50AM of July 28, 2020, said operation resulted to the arrest of four (4) fishermen who were caught in the act fishing with the aid of active gear and encroached the municipal seawater of Socorro at the vicinity of Sitio Lawigan, Barangay Salog, Socorro, Surigao del Norte. Suspect were identified as: Jimson Olarte Esmeralda aka Jemmy, 59 years old, married, fisherman, and a resident of Purok-5 Barangay Habag, Lanuza, Surigao del Sur; Limbert Travalez Segador aka Balani, 23 years old, single, fisherman, and resident of barangay San Carlos, Dapa, Surigao del Norte; Jomar Engroba Panuncial aka Joy2x, 19 years old, single, fisherman, and a resident of Barangay Salog, Socorro, Surigao del Norte and Jusua Espijon Esmeralda aka Betong, 19 years old, single, fisherman, and a resident of Barangay San Carlos, Dapa, Surigao del Norte.

Confiscated items during the operation were as follows:

  1. One (1) unit pump boat color white and green with One (1) engine with 16HP;
  2. Fifteen (15) pieces Light Bulb with 30 watts each; and
  3. Six (6) bundle fishing fine net

The arrested suspects were informed of their constitutional rights under Miranda Doctrine in the language known and understood by them including Anti-Torture Law.

Suspects and confiscated items are now at Socorro MPS for proper disposition and appropriate charge has been prepared for municipal adjudication board proceedings or for filling in court for proper sanction by virtue of the ordinance.

On July 28, 2020 around 12:10PM, PNP personnel of San Isidro MPS conducted seaborne patrol at the sea water of Barangay Tigasao, San Isidro, Surigao del Norte, which resulted to the arrest of Alfredo Bernaldez Camingue, 50 years old, married, labourer; Ruben Mero Bernadez, 79 years old, married, farmer; and Arcillano Balmoria Arandid, 75 years old, married, farmer, all are residents of Purok 2, Barangay Tigasao, San Isidro, Surigao del Norte, who were caught in the act fishing at the Fish Sanctuary, Sea Water Nahaba, Barangay Tigasao, San Isidro Surigao del Norte with the use of  fish net measuring 2x2 in size.

Confiscated from the possession of the suspects were:

  1. One (1) paddle boat;
  2. Three (3) paddles;
  3. More or less three (3) kilos assorted Parrot Fish (Mol Mol);
  4. Three (3) goggle (Antipara); and
  5. One (1) fish net.

Arrested suspects were informed of their constitutional rights under the Miranda Warning and Anti-Torture Act and were brought to Socorro MPS as well as the above-mentioned fishing paraphernalia for Violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 2015-01 of Municipal Fisheries Code of 2015 Section 112 with a fine of Php1,000.00 each.

Suspects were immediately released after they settled their penalty in good physical and mental condition together with the fishing paraphernalia

Press Release – July 29, 2020 Campaign Against Wanted Person

PNP personnel of Sta. Monica Municipal Police Station led by PLT JUAN T BELARMINO, Officer-in-Charge, conducted operation on 9:30AM of July 28, 2020 P4-Brgy. Tangbo, Sta. Monica, Surigao del Norte against Wanted Person that resulted in the arrest of the suspect Fedilyn Bruzon Platil a.k.a “Maute”, female, 52 years old, single, housekeeper, a resident of P-4 Brgy. Tangbo, Sta. Monica, Suriga del Norte by virtue of Warrant of Arrest issued on July 24, 2020 by Hon. CESAR P. BORDALBA, presiding judge, 10th Judicial Region BRANCH 31, Dapa, Surigao del Norte for the crime of Violation of RA No. 7610 (Child Abuse), Crime Case Number 20-68 with bail recommended of Eighty Thousand Pesos (80, 000.00). Arrested person is now under the custody of Sta. Monica MPS.
