Apprehension of Suspect for Robbery and Possession of Pick-locks Incident


Theft and Robbery Unit (TRU) of Surigao City Police Station brought therein the apprehended suspect identified as RICO ORTOJAN CASTRO, 18 years old, male, jobless, male, Filipino, and a resident of Sitio Riverside (Bacud), Brgy. Luna, Surigao City on January 27, 2020 around 8:20AM for Robbery that happened around 4:00AM of the same date in aforementioned place after the complaint of Haydee Dela Peña Piong, 30 years old, female, Piso Net Shop owner, teacher, and a resident of Km. 5 (Bacud Area), Brgy. Luna, Surigao City.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that around 4:00AM of same date the husband of the owner Police Lieutenant Noel Piong was suddenly awaked by the shout of their neighbor named Myrna Diadula seeing the suspect doing thievery activities by destroying the compartment of the Piso Net machines. Subsequently, the suspect fled away upon sensing on the presence of the owner on the area. During follow-up inquiry made by the husband of the owner, he discerned the presence of the suspect around the area prompting him to call for further police assistance comprising the Theft and Robbery personnel of SCPS. Suspect was then apprehended around 8:00AM of same date in Purok Riverside (Bacud), Brgy. Luna, Surigao City including a blue/black bag pack containing with the following, to wit;

  • Assorted coins amounting to two hundred fifty six pesos (Php256.00) placed inside a blue plastic cellophane;
  • Ten (10) pcs. Assorted tools;
  • One (1) black Lotus plastic socket box;
  • One (1) dark printed grey hooded jacket;
  • One (1) black Nokia cellphone(non-serviceable);
  • One (1) blue lighter;
  • One(1) plastic black covered motorcycle key attached on a key holder;
  • Three (3) pcs. Five peso coin;
  • Three (3) pcs. One peso coin, and;
  • One (1) blue plastic covered handled scissor recovered in the right lower worn jogging pants.

Suspect was informed his constitutional rights, Anti-Torture law and the nature of his arrest to the language known and understood by him and is now temporarily detained pending for an inquest proceeding.

Apprehension on Wanted Person


Personnel of Surigao City Police Station, Subpoena/Warrant Section led by PCMS Jan Andro E. Cagas arrested Jose At-At Peniones, 51 years old, male, married, and a resident Purok 3, Ambangan, Brgy. Ambago, Butuan City on January 27, 2020 around 5:30PM in Borromeo corner Amat Sts., Barangay Taft, Surigao City by Virtue of Warrant of Arrest for Other Deceits docketed under Criminal Case No. 47432 dated June 1, 2015 issued by Hon. Dennis B. Castilla, Presiding Judge of MTCC Br. 1, Butuan City with recommended bail of Two Thousand Pesos (Php2,000.00).

 The arresting Police Officers duly presented the Warrant of Arrest and informed his Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Law. Documentation is now being prepared by Surigao City Police Station for the information of the issuing Court.
