8.5 M Worth of Cultured Prawns, Intentionally Released by CTGs

Surigao del Norte (SDN) – Alleged armed group believed to be members of Communist-Terrorist Group (CTG) under SYP16B, Guerilla Front 16, NEMRC led by @Zanjo/Weng (TN: Gela Ybanez) intentionally unlocked five prawn ponds and released the cultured prawns therein with an estimated market value of Eight Million Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 8,500,000.00) at the same time conducted simultaneous road blocking in P-1, Brgy. Pili, Malimono, Surigao del Norte, June 19,2021.
Investigation disclosed that one of the helper was called by the CTG member. Upon confrontation, he was told to quote “COOPERATE LANG MO KAY AMONG ABRIHAN ANG MGA LUWANG”. He was brought to the nearby prawn pond and ordered to stay. CTGs then opened the water gate of the five prawn ponds freeing the cultured prawns.
CTGs withdrawn to the mountainous portion of the said area leaving damages arising therefrom.
Provincial Director (PD) Police Colonel Noel C Espinoza assured that all Municipal Police Stations were directed to intensify security measures and conduct checkpoint operation in close coordination with Armed Forces of the Philippines counterpart. Meanwhile, Intelligence operatives were dispatched to monitor the movement of the enemy.
“Refusal to CTGs extortion demand is the possible motive of this attack. Our in-depth investigation has been conducted for possible identity of the perpetrators,” PD Espinoza said.
