Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO) —Local authorities apprehended the Top 2 Provincial Level Most Wanted Person for Rape and five Illegal Fishers in accord with relentless campaigns to safeguard the community and natural resources on August 25, 2021.
Police Colonel Noel C Espinoza, Provincial Director (PD) identified the suspects as Dandreb M. Ocon, 44, resident of Purok Peña, Barangay Asinan, Pilar SDN; Jerlon S. Dijande, 33, Rolito M. Gabotero, 33, and Robert L. Najial, 41, all residents of Brgy. Bunga, Jabonga, Agusan del Norte; Juan N. Oyo, 40, resident of Purok 1 Brgy. Ellaperal, Placer, SDN and Marben D. Fogoso, 23, resident of Barangay San Juan, San Benito, SDN.
Joint operatives of Provincial Intelligence Unit SDNPPO (lead unit) and Pilar Municipal Police Station (MPS) successfully arrested Ocon, the Top 2 Most Wanted Person in Pilar, SDN through implementation of warrant of arrest for the crime of Rape (Revised Penal Code Article 226-A) under Criminal Case No. 21-101 dated August 19, 2021 issued by Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 31, Dapa, SDN with no bail recommended.
Mainit MPS conducted illegal fishing operation along the lake of Brgy. San Isidro, Mainit, SDN yielding to the arrest of Dijande, Gabotero and Najial who were caught in the act illegally fishing using improvised compressor locally known as “Boso”, a violation under Municipal Ordinance Nr. 2003-05. Confiscated from the violators were improvised spear and pair of fishing gear locally known as “kapay”.
Meanwhile, seaborne patrol operation of Placer MPS, Bantay Dagat and Municipal Agriculture Officer within the territorial sea water of Placer, SDN was able to arrest Oyo who was caught in the act engaging in illegal fishing in the sanctuary area. Confiscated were 150 meters of fishing net, motor banca, Honda motor engine and assorted fishes.
Another seaborne patrol operation of San Benito MPS and San Benito Bantay Dagat accomplished the arrest of Fogoso who was caught in the act gathering sea shells locally known as “Sa-ang” in marine sanctuary of Barangay Talisay, San Benito, SDN, in violation of Municipal Ordinance No.089-16 (San Benito Comprehensive Municipal Fishery Code). Confiscated items include sea shells “Sa-ang”, one pair Improvised flipper and goggles.
“The unceasing fight of the PNP and concerned counterparts enforce our feats against lawlessness and protecting Surigaonons as well as preservation of people’s natural environment. I commend the operatives on their laudable accomplishment in arresting criminals and violators,” PD ended.
